5. Production Process

(1) Crush the washed and dried salvia miltiorrhiza into small pieces, pass them through a 20 mesh sieve, and take the residue for later use.

(2) Add 500g Danshen powder into a sealed container with a stirrer, and then add 100-200ml of 95% ethanol solution, stir slowly to make Danshen fully wetted, and then stand for 0.5-1 hour to make Danshen wet and expand.

(3) Put the expanded salvia miltiorrhiza into a percolation cartridge with a volume of 1000~1600ml, place a piece of cylinder shaped filter paper with proper shape on the top layer of salvia miltiorrhiza, and put an appropriate amount of washed and dried fine sand on the paper. A rubber tube is connected to the outlet at the bottom of the percolation cylinder. The ethanol solution with a concentration of 95% is added from the rubber tube until the liquid level of the ethanol solution is higher than the surface of the salvia miltiorrhiza, and then the flow rate of the leachate is controlled from bottom to top to be 3~5ml/min. Keep observing the color of leachate. When the color of leachate is light, the percolation can be ended.

(4) When the obtained leachate is decompressed and concentrated to contain about 1 mg of salvia miltiorrhiza crude drug per milliliter, it is the extract of salvia miltiorrhiza.
